    Bio

Time for a bio update! (Why? Because I grew bored with the other one.) But before we get down to details, something the good folks at LJ would like me to make clear: This journal will almost certainly contain material with mature themes, not suitable for underage readers. This is a good-faith warning.

Topics range from intensely personal and recovery related to fangirly gushing. I'm not fond of flame wars, in my 'house' or anyone else's. Take a close look at my bio to gauge the 'temperature' before jumping in.

On friending: I'm not always alerted when someone friends this journal. If you friend me and I don't friend you back, it's more likely that I haven't checked my 'friend' listing than any deliberate snub on my part.

    The Mandatory Demographic:

I'm thirty-something, female, bi, and spoken for, thanks. I write fanfic, original fiction which I am slowly inflicting on the general public, the occassional essay and article of whatever's caught my interest this week, wax semi-poetic on a variety of topics, lose my temper, rave, rant, and generally behave like the rabid book-junkie that I am.

I've recently enteredthe wonderful world of console gaming. I should probably be embarrassed at getting caught up in electronic games at my age... but I'm not, really. :) (Pssst: Girl gamers need fanservice too!)

Thanks to my blossoming Mirage of Blaze fascination, I'm also ever-so-slowly tackling the process of learning how to read Japanese. (So far, so good, though one day I will have to scrape up the cash for real classes.) This is all so I can eventually read the 40+ novel series by Kuwabara-sensei. As for my inspiration:

Quite an inspiration, hmm? ;) As it's highly unlikely such a romans-fleuve is ever going to be translated into English (it's forty volumes, not counting prequels and side-novels, mnanga, a book of travel essays, drama CDs, and at least one authorized doujinshi), I'll just have to learn Japanese... Besides, Lit. majors are really supposed to be at least bi-lingual anyway... (or so one of my professors said).

Religion-wise, if you must have labels, I'm a Third Road Pagan with a strong Heathen side. Note, I do not claim to be Asatru and my practice reflects this. In short, I'm dual-tradition and content with that.

There is no week nor day nor hour when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if the people lose their roughness and spirit of defiance.

Hundreds of thousands of people around the world have responded to the suffering in Darfur by standing up and demanding that their governments take action to end the crisis. However, many individuals still have not heard about the genocide in Darfur.

SaveDarfur.org has a post called "Educate Others" that's worth checking out...

Politcally, I'm Independent, with leanings towards Liberal Democrat, so I sometimes (okay, often) clash with more conservative philosophies. "Live in balance and harmony' is a lovely phrase, but as any dancer, singer, or musician can tell you, harmony actually requires a lot of hard work.

I'm also dysthymic, and in recovery. It's a biiiiig factor in what and how I post. I also post recovery-related material here, so use your best judgement when choosing which cut to look behind. I do warn and filter for the heavy stuff, but mistakes happen and postings do wander off onto tangents.
